Even if it was just a literary device, his boundless grandiosity has always been something of a turnoff. Upper Room Productions
It was time to incorporate. Given the tax incentives to do so as a screenwriter, it was time to become a company of one. To be sure, the spiritual correlatives were not lost on me either, for which reason I had decided well in advance that when the time came to make it official, I would name my corporation Upper Room Productions. The double (or triple) entendre was something to chew on, for me at least.

The Philanthropist
When NBC announces their prime-time schedule for the fall next month, the lineup may or may not include a show called “The Philanthropist,” on which I will be a writer if it airs. The character in question is a fortysomething Wall Street billionaire who, dissatisfied with checkbook charity, initiates his own one-man humanitarian missions from Africa to Asia and Middle America. He also happens to be a Dionysian adventure addict....

Super Swarm
You were probably a better citizen than I was and watched the final Clinton/Obama debate before last Tuesday’s primaries in Ohio and Texas. I meant to, at least, and then got stuck in a Mega Disasters segment on the History Channel, entitled “Super Swarm.”

Back to Work(s)
I don’t have the time to write this. With the Writers Guild strike now over, and in its place a sudden deadline for a script, I came close to telling this blog’s editor, Greg Wolfe, that I simply couldn’t make tomorrow’s due date for this, my third post. For better or worse, I’ve never been one to miss a deadline, but the competition between these two seemed to leave me with no choice.
